Pre-Engineered Solutions for Fast Retrofits

The TEMPCOMExtruder Control System from Integrated Control Technologies is a Pre-Engineered System that is available as a new system mounted in NEMA 12 enclosure or it can be field retrofitted into an existing system.  The TEMPCOM has been installed on multiple extruders in the plastics industry such as Blown-Film, Sheet, Pipe and Profile lines.  Flexibility is built into the design with the ability to control up to 46 temperature control zones as well as monitor pressure and control extruder, puller and nip drives.  As an automated extruder control system, it contains such features as :

  • Advanced Diagnostics (Broken Probe, Loop Break, Broken Heater, Power Fault, Shorted SSR, etc.)
  • Cold Start Prevention
  • Extruder Pre-Heat
  • Ethernet Connection

Automated extruder control systems will result in less down downtime by reducing wiring connections and improving machine diagnostics.  Since it is Pre-Engineered, it is a LOW COST solution that is available for quick delivery, sometimes less than 2 weeks depending on the level of customization required.

Pre-Engineered AC Drive Packages
50-600 Hp in 3-5 Business Days

Today’s business environment has made it difficult for many plastic manufacturers to plan converting their existing DC drive systems to AC drive systems.  Often, a catastrophic event such as a drive or motor failure is what is required to obtain the required capital for such an expenditure.  At this point, the return on investment is less than two years and very appealing to most manufacturers.

Unfortunately, there are several obstacles that must be navigated in order to perform a retrofit.  One of the largest are the physical challenges associated with the retrofit.  Often an AC drive and motor are larger than its DC counterpart.  This requires that the AC drive is mounted in a separate enclosure which has a typical delivery of 4-6 weeks from the factory which is impractical for an emergency retrofit.

In response to these challenges, Integrated Control Technologies has introduced the ACPAK, which is a Pre-Configured AC Drive package in a NEMA 12 from 30-600 hp available in 3-5 business days.  The ACPAK is available with either Yaskawa or Allen-Bradley AC Drives.  For the AC motor, we recommend the Reliance RPM-AC motor.  The RPM-AC motor is an AC Vector motor in a DC motor frame.  Often the RPM-AC motor is the same size as the existing DC motor which makes retrofits much easier, especially if the motor is under the extruder barrel.
